It’s not good.
It’s fantastic. One of the best of the decade.

arguably oppo canon, (though it’s still a bit weird and violent...)

When you get to the parts with a dude on a bungee cord shredding guitar on a mobile concert stage (described very aptly as a rolling Rolling Stones concert) keep in mind that
a) he really is playing a “working” guitar made from scrap metal
b) the flames are real, and controlled by the guitarist
c) the speakers work, which results in shots that were literally some australian guitarist shredding his heart out on a rusty metal guitar on about 200,000 watts of sound moving at 50+ mph through the desert.
It is a fucking miracle that nothing went wrong, but rest assured that if the worst happened and the speaker truck crashed, the truck, and all the souls on it would be shot through some dimensional portal to the afterlife, accompanied by valkyries, straight into valhalla where Thor would be sittin gthere like “YEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHH! ” and would give them all the mead they could because you cant have a more metal death than a literal rolling rolling stones concert at highway speeds in the desert, crashing out while you’re on top of it playing sweet sweet guitar solos on a junkyard guitar that shoots flames.

Yep. That movie is insane. Was that much of the movie really actually done?

Most of the movie was practical effects with cgi "enhancements" like some extra dust to make a scene transition clean or to make the last bits of damage/carnage just perfect on a given scene.
